History of Wiz
Wiz Cloud Security was founded in 2020 by a team of experienced cybersecurity professionals,
including former Microsoft executives Assaf Rappaport, Ami Luttwak, Yinon Costica, and Roy Reznik.
The company's inception aimed to address the increasing complexities and security challenges in
modern cloud environments. Leveraging their expertise and insights from working on Microsoft's Azure
Security Center, the founders designed Wiz to offer a comprehensive and efficient cloud security
solution. Their vision was to enable organizations to secure their cloud infrastructure with
unparalleled visibility and simplicity, helping them detect and mitigate threats swiftly.
The
startup quickly gained traction due to its innovative approach to cloud security, which combines
agentless scanning with deep cloud infrastructure analysis. This method allows for rapid deployment
and minimizes performance impacts on cloud environments. By 2021, Wiz had raised significant funding
from prominent investors, including Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Insight Partners, cementing
its position as a leader in the cloud security market. As the company expanded, it continued to
innovate, introducing features like continuous compliance, vulnerability management, and automated
remediation, further solidifying its reputation as a key player in safeguarding cloud-native
applications and infrastructure.
