Papa John's, founded in 1984 by John Schnatter in Jeffersonville, Indiana, began as a humble pizza
business in a converted broom closet of his father's tavern. Schnatter sold his prized Camaro to
purchase equipment, launching what would become one of America's largest pizza chains. By focusing
on high-quality ingredients and better customer service, Papa John's quickly gained a reputation for
its "Better Ingredients, Better Pizza" slogan.
Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Papa John's
expanded aggressively, both domestically and internationally. The company went public in 1993, and
by the early 2000s, it had opened thousands of stores worldwide. Despite facing controversies and
challenges over the years, including disputes with its founder, Papa John's remains a major player
in the pizza industry, known for its commitment to quality and its distinctive garlic sauce. Today,
